Lovely old house, with really pleasant rooms. Very walkable for eating out in town, or a swim in Head Lake. The owner is very helpful, and was especially kind when we needed a bit of flexibility with checkouts. Lovely place to stay.

Stayed here for a night but will definitely be coming back.||We occupied the ground floor which was a 2 bedroom with dining and living area. It also came with a full kitchen. The host was very friendly and welcomed us upon arrival. There was a basket with fruits, and for breakfast they provided bagels, cream cheese, jam, cereals, juice and coffee. The place was rustic with modern fixtures and a wood stove which was very nice to sit around enjoying a book. I would recommend this place.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here this past weekend and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. It couldn't be any closer to the centre of Haliburton. A beautiful creek nearby, and a 5 minute walk to Head Lake. LCBO and a Foodland within walking distance to stock up on necessities. Parking on-site, and even though there were 4 other guests, we never had any issues parking.||||Continental breakfast was great; an excellent selection of breads, cereals, fruits, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Can opener and utensils for your convenience, as well as plates, glasses and bowls. Even salt and pepper. They took everything into consideration!||||We did experience the same soundproofing issues as previous guests, but reasonably, not much can be done. It's a heritage home and we loved the antique wood flooring and wall slats, but yes, if you are a light sleeper, you will need earplugs (we always bring them and this time our foresight came in handy). We did hear the guests downstairs conversing until the wee hours of the morning, and they were by no means loud.||||Some great points:||-Bath towels were super plush and new.||-Bedding and mattress were comfortable and clean.||-Jennifer went out of her way to find out our breakfast preferences; she even provided boiled eggs for us since I can't have most grains.||-HOT water for the shower and sink.||-I love the door system; no key to lose or forget, just a pinpad!||-White noise machine in the rooms really helped cut down noise and made it easier to sleep.||||Only suggestions:||-Would like a few more hangers in the closet to hang clothing (I suspect people have stolen some in the past).||-Paper cups for coffee and baggies to take your breakfast to go would be fantastic.||||We will be back soon! A+

We stayed there for 1 night in March as we were exploring Haliburton region. This is a house divided into 2 floors. We had a room on the 2nd floor, with shared bathroom and small kitchen. There was an additional room for short term stay (not booked) and another room rented long-term by a student.||The room itself was small but nicely accommodated and very cozy. Just what we needed for 1 night.||||There was everything needed in the kitchen for breakfast, the owner even asked if we wanted as specific bread/fruits at booking, That said, you have to prepare your breakfast yourself and clean the place after. ||||Only negative point is that you hear everything happening in the house, so if you happen to share it with people with a small sense of respect for others it can easily get annoying.

Spent 4 nights here. Great location to tour Haliburton. Being on motorcycles we enjoyed the fact that town was walkable. Room was basic with self serve breakfast. Plenty of options. The main floor suite has 2 bedrooms and one bath. The bathroom however is in one of the bedrooms.

This renovation in progress newer B&B has great potential. The building is over a century old and some parts of it show it, others have had good renovations done. We stayed on the 2nd floor which features a shared kitchenette and washroom. The kitchenette at this time is basic but well stocked with breakfast foods for patrons, fresh fruit daily and all the equipment to enjoy them. I am sure the renovations will hit this room soon! The 2nd floor washroom is a modern show piece with a large glass shower stall, water saving toilet and large sink and quiet tile flooring. The management has a sign saying water is from a well but we found great water pressure and good tasting water from the tap. The bedding is in new condition and as such, is fairly comfortable. The supplied pillows though, are a complete fail having almost no substance to support your head and neck in a comfortable way; strongly suggest you bring one of your own if you are traveling by car to the hotel from your own home. The owner goes to great lengths to please his patrons and is a likeable person. We were contacted by text to coordinate our arrival as there is no check in desk or employee on site for this purpose. The prices for rooms were very reasonable at this time and I think reflected the un-finished state of the B&B. We visited during a snowy weekend and found the front steps and door area were cleaned regularly to prevent slips and falls. There is free parking for 3-4 vehicles on site and arrangements have been made across the street if there is an overload of vehicles. At this time, the Achilles Heel of this B&B property preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the flooring. It is beautiful original knotty pine planking. There are gaps between boards where the 1st floor can be clearly seen from the 2nd...Insulation of some sort between the floors installed when the flooring is replaced would be a positive step. The old boards are so tired there are places where the wood bows underneath your step, bit scary. The wood is so dry that any step anywhere results in loud creaking that will awake the deepest sleeper in the middle of the night. The owner needs to fix this before anyone would rate the B&B to the full 5 stars. The wood is gorgeous but is defeating the purpose of a place to sleep comfortably. We traveled for a family emergency and were very grateful for the availability of the rooms at 23Maple during a very busy weekend in this region. Haliburton City and the Haliburton Highlands offer 4 season outdoor activities for all with winter activities including skidoo riding, hockey and sled dog racing. 23Maple is within 5 minute walking distance of the main business strip in Haliburton and all other things there. Drive if you want but sometimes parking may be difficult. The B&B is very easy to find on the main highway 118 through Haliburton, which is also called Maple Avenue, which runs up the shore of Head Lake. Overall a good stay with positive ownership but somewhat questionable sleep-ability with the flooring issues. If we require lodgings again in Haliburton, we would check out this B&B.
