My experience was First General was awful. They are a "preferred vendor" for insurance companies, and it shows. They were hired by my insurance company to conduct appraisals of complete flooding of my house. The appraisals they provided were incredibly low, so I obtained two independent estimates that were substantially higher. Their project manager also made many attempts to disclaim several significant components that were damaged by the flooding. This company should be avoided at all costs.

$1400 to cut a hole in the drywall ceiling and leave 2 fans over the weekend. They did a bad job cutting the hole (didn't even cut beam to beam). It will make repair considerable harder. In addition, this was not a major flood, maybe 2 litres of water. Not even enough to stain or soak through any of the drywall. I would definitely not recommend. Ridiculous prices and poor quality work.

Update: I was able to touch base with Joe. He ran through the charges with me and was able to explain the pricing a little more. It appears there was a bunch of regulations about floor coverings, fan quantities for drying etc that need to be followed when insurance gets involved. While I'm unhappy with the pricing, it sounds like getting insurance involved was our mistake (learned the hard way). I've updated to 3 stars due to them taking the time to talk to me and explain their side as well.

First General recently responded to an emergency flood at one of our projects.Their Team was well organized and extremely professional. They understood our concerns related to our construction schedule and were able to put a remediation plan together in the field. The plan met our schedule and budget. They then executed the remediation plan; on schedule and budget. Thank you Christian and the rest of the First General Team.

Braden and Jennifer at First General were both very helpful in providing a breakdown of how the repair work was going to be done at our home, explaining the estimate line items, and assisting in getting answers promptly from our insurance adjuster where applicable.

The only reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is because when it it came to the timing to get the contractors in they ended up only working 1 day prior to the Easter long weekend, so 3 days without any repair work done but I also take some responsibility in that for not having planned it on my end until after the long weekend.

Overall I’m pleased with the service, thanks First General.
