I am struggling to write this as I've had many good services through Geebo over the years, from many of their locations.
Their new minas technician advised me to order an iFixit screen for my google pixel 7 pro and they would install it for me.
as they didn't get parts in for that model phone, the technician gave me one reason why that was, but, the president contradicted them and gave me another totally different reason.
during the attempted install the technician bent up a USB-C bracket and some grounding pins during the opening process, noticed this and attempted to repair that damage, but accidentally reinstalled the damaged part upside down before attempting to put my new screen in. when he installed the new screen it caused the screen to break.
when i picked up my phone the technician reported my replacement screen was defective and I should contact iFixit for warranty. which i did under his advice.
after that i looked at the phone which the Geebo technician left open and unprotected. that is when i noticed the damages and the upside down USB-C bracket. so clearly the technician was not fully honest when i picked up the phone.
I sent pictures of the damages and an explanation of the situation to Geebo support and they said they don't guarantee customer supplied parts but would replace the USB-c bracket as they could tell it was damaged by the service.
this is not good enough for me. the screen was not defective it was damaged by their workmanship, that is not the same thing as a parts guarantee in my opinion, and certainly not in my own profession as a server technician.
due to that disagreement and Geebo's advice that the bracket couldn't possibly be the cause of the screen failure, once the new replacement screen from iFixit arrived, I attempted to install as my skill set in my job mirrors much of theirs, and was met with the exact same issue as their technician where the screen failed when seated in place above the damaged USB-c bracket.
since then I've seen the google certified warranty shop Mobile Klinik and they assessed the phone and advised the bracket and the pin next to it were the cause.
also now, I've replaced that bracket and bent the pin down on Mobile Klinik's advice and replaced the screen successfully and its worked great ever since. Geebo has failed to address the issue and stand by their work. even when the client has gone way our of their way to do the legwork to prove it was technician error. they chose to draw the hard line at they don't guarantee customer supplied parts, even if it was at their advice to bring them, even if they broke them with poor workmanship.
I'm out for two screens 600$ and extra labour from another shop just to prove it was Geebo's error and not faulty parts and I'll never see that back. but i felt it was only right to post this testimony.
be forewarned that if you have parts not sold by them they won't stand by their work in any way. this is their policy. you pay your money, you take your chances with their technicians.
I've done a lot of business at Geebo through the various companies I've worked for as IT support and always had good experiences, but after this experience i feel their mindset towards clients has changed and i don't believe i will be back.
