I worked with Safeguard to manage my property during the months between when we bought the home and were finally able to move in. Ours was a complicated arrangement, which Safeguard personnel were well able to accommodate. They were communicative, willing to work with our particular needs, and were quick with a recommendation, trusted contractor, or to do a walk through with one of our own. Would 100% recommend for property management support.

I was with this company for 6 years as the home owner.
They were great at finding tenants. But horrible with communication, and follow through. For 5 years I asked for quotes for a heat pump, they never followed through. I asked them to give the tenants a heads up that we were going through the house with a realestate agent for an assessment for future plans. They didn't inform them. So of course they were blindsided and upset. Basic requested maintenance and photos on the house was ignored. Charged me twice for installing shingles, once for black ones on my red roof, and again for the correct colour. They were of zero assistance with getting my house ready for the market, and sorting out their neglected maintenance. Now they are ghosting my emails.

Edit: They came good on the replacement shingles, and eventually came through on some of the remaining repairs.
Like I stated above, great at finding tenants and also dealing with emergencies, but communication and passing of information certainly requires attention.

Property manager Candis Diaz had us sign a lease for a year without disclosing a Pharaoh ant infestation on the property, which at the time of move in was at that point in our unit as well. When the issue was brought to her attention, she was dismissive, short, and rude to me for daring to be concerned and ask her to resolve the issue immediately, as it was HERS, not ours. She had every excuse as to why she put myself at 7 months pregnant as well as my unborn son, and 3 year old toddler at risk of serious illness, persistent vegetative state, or death, because of the harmful bacteria that these bugs carry. She told us we could break our lease, and leave the first of October. So we did, we were out by the end of the day on the 30th of September.
She has the property right back up on the website, with no mention of the Pharaoh Ant problem; which google will tell you renders a home UNINHABITABLE while they are living in it. It is impossible to treat units for the type of pest, while there are people living in said units. It’s a simple fact. I hope the owners of 21 gates ave Middleton, as well as the owners of the other properties Candis manages, know just how little of her, “job”, the property manager they’ve hired actually does.

This is the most unprofessional rental agency I have ever had the misfortune to happen upon.
This was a shared lease (a house with multiple tenants). We continually got notice when other people did not pay their rent on time. And they kept our damage deposit when other people are there. They failed to be around at move in or move out.
They stole our damage deposit.
Highly unorganized, unprofessional, and extremely rude agent Candis Diaz. And the 5 star review here....that is coming from an EMPLOYEE - the rude one herself.

Safeguard has been a 10/10 property management company for me. I've lived in apartments all across the country and no one else has been so good and fair; they right any wrongs and do what they can to help (in my experience). They answer emails quickly, take care of maintenance requests in a timely manner and ensure I feel safe and comfortable where I live. I love my apartment.

I have the unique experience of being both a tenant and an employee at Safeguard, and I can genuinely say it's a great company to work for and rent from. As a tenant, I've always been treated with respect. While there are times I've has to wait for repairs-like when approvals are needed, parts are on order, or it's the busy season- I've always seen the follow through. The wait is never too long, and what needs to get done gets done.
As an employee, I see firsthand how hard the team works to support both tenants and property owners. Everyone truly cares, and that shows in the service we provide. Safeguard is also dedicated to giving back to the community, which is something I am proud to be a part of. It's great to work for a company that values people, both inside and outside the organization.

Extremely unsatisfied with everything about this company. From the moment we arrived (they were not there and we were locked out) from the moment we left (they never returned the damage deposit) to all the moments in between with not being able to get service, and unanswered emails, I was highly disappointed. I would NOT use this service ever again and recommend others not either. Horrible experience.

Being from out of province, I found the process of renting an apartment in Nova Scotia to be a bit daunting, harsh and uninviting. That was until we found an ideal rental with Safeguard Property Management. I can not praise them enough for the level of professionalism and care they use when handling rental properties. Candis and her team have been an absolute delight to interact with. I always received prompt responses to any inquiries and a quick resolve whenever we came across an issue in the suite. Candis took the time to listen and work with me and that is a rarity in her profession. I was always greeted with a friendly 'hello' and cheery disposition whenever I called.

Recently, my family and I had to unexpectedly vacate our rental due to family illness abroad. Candis handled our situation with the utmost care and compassion. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. I 100% recommend renting a property with and from Safeguard as they are a gem in the Annapolis Valley!
