My Elderly mom recently hired Boomer Movers, and the experience was a complete disaster. They didn’t bother wrapping her expensive coffee table during the move, which resulted in large scratches on a piece of furniture that holds both sentimental and monetary value.

Instead of offering to pay for a professional repair, the company convinced my elderly mother to let them handle it, claiming they were "experts." Without consulting her, they changed the original walnut finish on the top of the table to an oak veneer, saying it was the only material available at the store they went to. They only changed the top, leaving the rest of the table in its original walnut finish, creating a mismatched and unprofessional look.

On top of that, they also installed the veneer incorrectly, and now the surface is bubbling—a sign of poor installation and potential long-term damage.

To make matters worse, when my mother expressed disappointment with the situation they guilted her into accepting their subpar work by bringing up personal issues, emotionally manipulating her into feeling okay with the situation. Their only offer the fix the situation was to let my mother keep a small amount of money held back from the moving bill as well as saying sorry for the inconvenience.

On another note, the movers also complained about having to walk a small distance to my mom’s new apartment, which is on the main floor of a building during the move. More unprofessional behaviour.

If you value your belongings and expect professional service, I strongly advise avoiding this company.

For reference, if anyone is curious, I have added pictures of the coffee table that was damaged as well as a picture of the top of a side table to show what it should look like

More then happy with the boomer movers crew. Their team was very experienced and fast. They showed up early, made a point of protecting all the carpet and not making any mess, they even wrapped the mattresses. Would definitely use Boomer Movers again

Used this company to move my mother. First and foremost, I made an error when selecting our preferred moving date, and they were easily able to accommodate the date change once I realized my error. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
when our grandfather passed, we attempted to pack up his unit but became so overwhelmed as his dementia had caused him to stop cleaning and he wouldn’t let anyone help. We bought dozens of. Iced from Home Depot and got a lot packed however it became overwhelming so we searched out movers specializing in seniors. BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS HIRING THUS COMPANY first off I send photos of the unit ( a small 1 bedroom and they send an estimate but there was a note on it saying it would probably be less. They were well aware it was in Calgary and that I had moving boxes , tape and tape gun, so I was told the actual cost would probably be under the quoted and I paid a $1500 deposit. One the day of the packing completion I walked through the unit pointing out items to go into storage , to be DONATED and things to that were junk. We walked through and I pointed out what I had packed already ( approx 5 huge boxes ) I pointed out the pile of Home Depot boxes they can use ( note they did not bring much in other than paper to write on ) I spent time noting thing to stay IN THE UNIT. As they were being picked up along with a tin of my grandfathers medications which included narcotics which I needed to return to the pharmacy across the street I left not only our o oh key to my grandfathers unit but also gave them the storage unit key to put the stuff. I received many texts with items marked storage , junk and then suddenly I noticed. Picture of items and underneath it said “ consign “ now I am well aware what co sign means and yet they were charging me for junk removal and trying to sell my grandfathers items and collect money from me and the items. Well I not only texted the workers I wrote to the owner saying this was not what I ever agreed to and some of the items should have been in storage. It took almost a week before the owner told me they were away and in the email fully admitted that yes it was marked in error and I knew had I not called them out they would have happily accepted money for my grandfathers items AND charged me for junk. Then they proceed to tell me two items that had glass were damaged. I knew the items and one of them I specifically said needed to go to the storage as it was a piece that belonged to my late grandmother that my daughter wanted The owner said they would replace the glass ( which I knew was not possible as it’s nearly 100 years old I was told obviously my remaining balance would be reduced Now here’s the kicker.they sent me a bill and it was almost 1600 so on top of the 1500 I had already paid they wanted almost double the quote And this is after trying to sell my grandfathers items I specifically said I wanted donated or junked, the ly broke by their own admission 2 items and in the bill there was a charge got junk removal ( the same junk they tried to consign ) and they were charging me for MOVING SUPPLIES so the supplies I purchased weeks prior they tried to bill me for. I was shocked. Then I get a phone call just after the lovers left from the building maintence who checked the unit and they inform me there’s been damage caused. Nothing major but the towel rack was pulled right off the wall and damage to the wall ( big scrapes and dents in a door. Clearly we didn’t have the key to the unit ( at this point I still didn’t get it back ? So I was well aware how the damage was made. I emailed the owner AGAIN and for nearly 2 weeks I heard nothing so naturally when we did the walk thru my grandfathers estate got a lot deducted from his damage deposit again zero communication until I finally get an email saying oops sorry out of town. But no mention of the damages their employees caused or that we had to pay for it. Meanwhile they are asking me to pay the bill and saying oh we didn’t dump the items they are in our storage we can deliver them. I asked for a detailed list of the items and got one with a lot missing Nov 1 I get a demand letter from a lawyer demanding almost 2,000 and they are trying to charge me for storage.
