I went to BC for a short free camping day away from the noisy city of Calgary. Do not get me wrong, I love Calgary. Anyway, I was on my way back, and my car began to show an "Alarm" (Those in red letters saying needs to do that or that or that). I arrived at Nakusp, my phone was dead, and my family was close to the worry side. My logic was "Gas Station". So, I asked for directions, arrived at one of the Gas Stations in town, and asked them for help, and they said, "Go to Hewat. They will help you." The front counter lady at Hewat helped me with that, gave me a piece of mechanical advice, and took my family worries away. Drive back to Calgary without any worries and no more warnings. (By the way, It was a "regular rainy day for BC."). I love Canada - What a wonderful place to live. Thank you, Hewat.

We stopped into this shop on a whim to enquire about getting our sparks plugs and serpentine belt done. They fit us in right away and fixed both for the best price we've found across BC - they also had a look at a rattle in one of our wheels!

We mistakenly put Unleaded fuel in our diesel tank at the Esso station across the street because the green handles means Diesel fuel in the USA. These guys were able to take us in, drop our tank, flush the bad fuel, and get us back up and running. We appreciate them getting us in and back on the road! The service was great, and the price was more than fair. They really helped us out of a bad situation. We were able to make it back home. Thank you Hewat Truck Repairs! Lucky we had a diesel shop so close at hand.

There is a rumour going around that mechanics in small towns see tourists as easy marks and a way to make a fast buck. If you are in Nakusp, or towed in as we were, this is the place to go. We had a no start at the Needles ferry, and returned to Nakusp on a tow truck. Hewats had us up and running in about 45 minutes, and instead of selling us a new starter for our truck, they installed a new terminal on the end of the cable to the starter. They could have charged us for a new starter ($200+) and I would not have been any the wiser, but instead they were honest and charged only for the terminal(about $2) and the time to put it in (.7 hour = $67). I highly recommend Hewats to tourists and locals alike. This is an honest business that treats its customers well. Highly recommended. BTW, they are looking for a mechanic, if you are red seal certified and looking for a job...
