We engaged Hilary as a university counselor for our son (then in between grades 9 and 10) when it became clear that the counselor at his school was not prepared to advise on admissions for US schools. Hilary is incredibly knowledgeable about the process, which knowledge is further supported by the platforms and tools she uses to help engage the students with whom she works. Hilary worked with our son on class selection, skills development, identifying and then narrowing his list of schools, and ultimately, reviewing his primary essay and making sure he remained on top of his deadlines (which, admittedly, was and is not his strong suit). When his school finally hired a counselor who was capable of advising students, Hilary worked collaboratively with her to ensure they we.re not working across purposes. This year, he was accepted into 12 out of 13 schools (the one he did not get into was a stretch school with a roughly 6% acceptance rate): 7 in the US and 5 in Canada. He was offered substantial scholarships from half of the schools to which he was accepted. This fall, he will attend an outstanding university in the US, with a substantial (roughly 1/3 tuition) scholarship.

The process of finding and applying to a university was a daunting thought. As immigrants, everything has been more challenging for us, and this was no exception. Websites and videos weren't helpful, and contacting the universities directly was a hassle. We decided that we simply couldn't navigate this mess ourselves. Luckily, we found Hilary Lehn, and everything became clearer. She helped me discover my aptitudes and narrowed down some degree options for me. From there, we were able to select a university and decide what courses I should be taking in order to meet the necessary entrance requirements. The schedule she made helped keep me on track and ensured I always met important deadlines. However, what stood out to me was her insider advice that you can only get from someone who has been in academia for decades. She would know the answer to questions like "Will I get into this university with my average" or "Is this degree realistic for me". Looking back, I could not have gotten this level of guidance anywhere else.
