I wanted to share my positive experience with this establishment and their staff. I took my puppy here to get neutered. The process to book online was easy. They were very organized for drop up and pickup. Everyone I spoke to was personable and the establishment felt clean when I walked in. They send you home with a care sheet that includes their email and they encourage you to send pics if needed, which makes me feel supported post surgery. I trusted them with my Pup and I’m glad I did. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone needing an affordable neuter/spay. It truly feels like they do care about the animals.

Thank you for taking care of my Phantom. ?

We used the SNIP program to spay our female cat. Very friendly and helpful staff. The facility is beautiful and clean, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to drop off and pick up our cat, the whole process was seamless. Anyone needing a spay/neuter program for their pet this is a great low cost service.

Definitely important to ask how long they have had the dog. They had puppy pics of the dog I was looking at, but the dog wasn't listed as a puppy. When I got there the dog was about 6-8 months older and what was listed as a medium dog was a full grown large dog.

The woman who brought the dog out acted like she had Hannibal Lecter on the end of the leash. This obviously excited and under-exercised dog -- she claimed was stalking my dog (it was not). Even though they were on opposite sides of the fence, it made no aggressive attempts toward my dog but she refused to let them meet.

This lady who was in charge of adoption seemed determined to disway me from wanting the dog. I had already decided I didn't want the dog, because they incorrectly had the dog listed as a medium dog, but it was large. For ref: AI had guessed it was a terrier/min-pin mix, judging by the picks they posted. But it was actually the size of a shepherd 🙂

What's really sad is - this dog was perfectly normal for it's age. After already being at this shelter for months, I can't imagine it has much time left before they let it be put down. Yet this bitter woman, who is obviously traumatized by some bad experience, is the one in charge of granting adoptions.

The dog is on their website, name is Reese's. If anyone is interested in saving this dog - my advice is to flatter this woman.
Feed her ego, lie to her, do whatever you need to save this dog's life. She's the worst type of person to be in this position, sadly.

EDIT: Wanted to add, the entire staff that I interacted with was very friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy their job. I had very high hopes when I walked in. I would give the staff 5+ stars. The only issue was this woman in charge of adoptions - she just seemed very bitter and angry. It was an odd person to be in that position. I feel bad for the poor dogs looking for a home.

Polk county allows animals to live in this hoarding situation.
One cat was turned into them for a neglect injury causing an amputation.
O they go look? NOPE
THEY ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN

The process was simple. Very efficient and the staff pleasant. I was able to book an appointment online at 10 pm. There was available for the next day.
The cat came home the same day in good shape. The fees are extremely reasonable.

It's been almost 20 years since I was active with this wonderful agency. Everyone helped me immensely with the handling of a stray kitten who had 5 kittens. She didn't want them. When she wouldn't nurse them, my daughter and I bottle fed each of them. Your employees guided me through the experience, even giving me powder to make their milk. This Humane Society took the kittens AND the mother for others to adopt because my HOA would only allow 2 pets per household and had advised me if I didn't have them gone by a specific date, I would be fined $100/day from date they were to be from my home.
I contacted SPCA and was advised they were a kill shelter, only keeping pets for 3-5 days. Yours was not a kill shelter, hence the "humane" in your title

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! My daughter found a kitten when the cat was about 2 weeks old. We had to feed the kitten with a bottle etc. This kitten has never been to a vet or anywhere until we went to this place. We noticed the cat at 6-7 months was in heat and needed to be fixed. We made an appointment and had to wait two weeks. Took the cat December 28th, 2023 and dropped her off in the morning-picked her back up later that day. When the cat got home, she was walking slow, no appetite etc., but I figured it was because of the surgery. I told my daughter let her rest for a few days. Five days pass, and the cat is not eating, not really drinking, walking weird, throwing up etc. I then called the Humane Society to ask is this normal…Laura yelled “if the cat wasn’t eating for days, she would be dead” and hung up the phone. My mouth was hanging open..the phone was on speaker and my daughter heard this and started crying. I called right back, Laura picked up again and yelled “we not paying for nothing, take her to the Vet” and hung up a second time. Third time calling back, I then spoke to the director. Told the director what was going on and she said I’ll have a specialist call you right away and hung up. Days past, and still have not heard back from nobody. My cat was very active and now she’s not doing nothing. Now, I have to take the cat to a Vet and see what’s going on. Sad situation. Beware of this place, your family pet will go in one way, and come out a different way!!!!
