I wanted to come here to warn anyone willing to listen to avoid doing business with Mike Reynolds Jr. of L.W. Webb Construction out of Three Hills, AB. I cannot stress enough what a mistake it was going with him to build my wife's dream home.

My wife's father was L.W. Webb who designed the plans and had planned to build the house. Unfortunately he passed away suddenly so we went with Mike who is Lyle's nephew that had taken over the business and obviously my wife's cousin.

At first things seemed good, but as the build progressed we noticed that he was rarely on site and even when he was and directly witnessed mistakes made by his subs he would not have them immediately rectified.

Unfortunately, since my wife trusted him we paid every invoice in full instead of withholding the legally allowed 10%. This resulted in us having issues that have not been handled for over two years. It got to the point that I had to take over coordinating with the plumber to try and resolve an issue with the water heater myself as Mike stopped replying to my wife or I and completely dropped dealing with this issue. Another example of this is when I had to reach out to an HVAC company to have AC installed as Mike dragged his heels for so long that I had to arrange to have AC installed myself.

Mike also requested, on several occasions, that we not go through New Home Warranty and that if we just told him about issues he would solve them. Again, my wife trusted him so when we identified a plethora of problems in the first year, we did not go through warranty, Mike barely addressed any of them, and now these issues are out of warranty.

We found mold in our attic access and we were coming up to the 2 year mark (the next warranty expiry)so I told Mike that if he doesn't address this in the next 2 months I would have to submit a claim through New Home Warranty as my wife and I were worried that there were serious ventilations issues and risking the house being riddled with mold was not acceptable. He ignored us so I went to New Home Warranty. Once they got involved Mike turned nasty. Even though I gave him 2 months warning with several warnings during that period he did nothing and then went on the attack.

The latest (and hopefully last) thing that happened was he finally finished putting stairs on our deck however there were workmanship issues so when I received the invoice I immediately told Mike that I was not going to pay the invoice until things were remedied.

At the same time as the aforementioned deck issues, the town sent a cheque to Mike in error for their infill program (a refund up to $15,000 for costs in improving the lot) which should have gone to my wife and I. We found this out when we contacted the town and they said they had mailed the cheque out. My wife contacted Mike to ask if he got the cheque and if he had cashed it.

His response via text was "Sure Did". When my wife asked him why he did that and that the money was ours his response was "I'm torn on how to respond after receiving a ransom email. It's uncomfortable when that shoe is on the other foot, isn't it". Only when we went back to the town to tell them he was refusing to return the money did he suddenly become very polite and responsive. He did return the money, but this should be quite telling about his character as I suspect the town had to threaten him.

At the end of all of this Mike had resorted to theft, lies, gaslighting and tormenting my wife via text. If anyone is still reading this then I will say again, find anyone else to complete your construction project; dealing with Mike has been a nightmare and the biggest mistake of our lives.
