The owner used to be a medical professional, then worked at Tolko until it shutdown. Him and his wife used to own the theather near Kitchen Chaos, but it was really old and they got this new theater built around 2010. There are two theaters and they play one (two on weekends) shows each day. They have an excellent website that shows the prices and movies that they play. With two theaters, they play two movies at a time, and they repeat each movie for a week or sometimes up to a month, so you will have something new to watch usually every 1-2 weeks.

They do not permit any outside food or drink strictly. Further, they do not permit your own water, making you buy their water. Being someone who does not eat or drink during a movie, but needs to stay hydrated, it is a bit disappointing. It is understood that they depend on concession sales to stay afloat, but still.

The staff here are very friendly and talkative, while the owners work here every shift, greeting the customers. The theaters are clean and comfortable, but the angle of the seating is very shallow, resulting in tall people blocking your view. The washrooms are very well maintained.

Mondays and Wednesdays (at this time) are 2D only, so if you prefer 2D then these days are guaranteed. They also have bring your own bowl (for cheap popcorn) on Monday, discounted Tuesdays, and ladies nights on Wednesdays.

The ladies at the front were super kind and attentive to everything about what viewers may need or want during the showtime and the gentleman with them up front had nothing but kind things to say and great advice to give. Very clean building from where I was and easily 10/10 service, would HIGHLY recommend!

It's a dated place but the staff is friendly and your there to see a movie. So thats all that matters really. Its not all new in the place so that why a 3. But really it depends on the movie i am there to watch. Thats what counts.

My family went this past weekend to see How to Train Your Dragon. Yes, we own it at home, but it was such a nice experience to watch it together (again) on the big screen. Although I'm very careful and concerned about COVID transmission, I was extremely impressed by the safety protocols put in place by owners Michael and Darla. The theatre was spotless, seats were appropriately spaced at a distance, all movement was laid out for maximum protection of customers and staff. Food handling was completely careful to avoid any transmission of germs. I sincerely wish that all places in Alberta were as diligent with customer safety as The Park Theatre in High Prairie is.

One of the best small theaters I have been in over the years. Screens and projectors are dialed in, sound is excellent with almost no bleed between screen rooms staff is always friendly and excited about the movies.
Only small complaint is that as a larger person, the seats are a bit short in back support.
I know people that will drive about an hour from a town that has a theater to come to this one.

This is an awesome theatre with two screens, opening day releases, great popcorn, and very friendly owners and staff. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable. This was somewhere around the 20th time I made the trip from Slave Lake to watch a movie. Well worth the 1 hour and 15min drive each way.
