Stopped here after getting back from a later flight. We were starving and got immediate service when we walked in. The server was very kind and quick. Definitely glad we made the last minute decision to come here for food, and I'll be back!

As important as great reviews are when choosing a place to eat, knowing about the less than satisfactory experiences are equally important.

My friend and I rushed over to state and main, setting up child care to be able to make it to happy hour and have a girls evening. When we walked in, we were helped right away and couldn’t help notice that the restaurant was empty. This made more sense after trying their food.

It was disheartening to see that the happy hour menus was maximum $2 off the original overpriced dishes. (And their drinks) so we only ordered 1 appetizer (the baja Brussels sprouts)

I ordered the veggie burger as my main and the only flavour it had was from the onion. The mark was missed. I had to add salt to it and it fell apart in my hands. It was very soggy and underwhelming.

My friend ordered the grilled cheese burger and it was the same situation. No flavour. And soaked with oil.

Reading other reviews, this seems like a common theme and for this reason I will not be returning.

Ordered the grilled chicken club with garden salad instead of fries. A bit odd that there is an upcharge to sub out the fries for a garden salad. Salad was mixed greens with pine nuts, roasted chickpeas, goat cheese and house dressing already mixed. Was very tasty. Chicken was well cooked and tender. Good amount of avocado and bacon with the perfect amount of mayo.

Recently went to State & Main and had a great lunch. It was quiet, which made for a relaxing experience. The service was fast and friendly; our server was attentive without being overbearing. The food arrived hot and fresh, just as we ordered, and drinks were topped off quickly, which we appreciated.

The atmosphere was really cool with lots of space and seating, so we never felt cramped. The decor added to the overall enjoyable experience. It’s a fantastic spot for a casual lunch, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good food and a comfortable setting. Definitely a place worth visiting!

Took my girlfriend out for our anniversary dinner and everything was amazing! The restaurant was packed but our server, Abbey still managed to get everything out to us super fast. Drinks were phenomenal and the food was super tasty. The fish tacos and main burger were delicious. Will definitely be returning.

I used to love to come here a lot. Came in recently to attend the 9pm happy hour but was then greeted with unprofessional service and was told that kitchen was closed and we could only get 1 drink. Why would you have a happy hour at 9pm if you’re not gonna serve people during it. The worker that greeted us might as well of denied us service and then told us to go to Paul’s pizza across the street. I understand the concept of last call but the attitude was uncalled for and disappointing. I’ve also heard of similar experiences around town about this late happy hour issue.

Stopped on a work trip. Beautiful venue, good service and high quality food. Had the sirloin steak and it exceeded my expectations. Cooked right, super juicy and flavourful. The passion paloma drink had really a fruity but not super sweet taste, very refreshing. Recommend, fyi - im not a local.

Came out for a mini celebration. We have never been to a state and main before, so we were excited to try it.

Our server was outstanding and if we do return it will be because of the outstanding service received, as well as the enjoyable food.

We started out with a fun suggested mocktail and my wife loved it! It's nice to have non alcohol options.

We started with the pretzel bites and cheese dip - it was solid but not a favorite. We felt the bacon was not needed but the flavor was nice.

Mains we had the pistachio crusted salmon with sweet potato fires and the grilled cheese burger with caesar salad.

The salmon was easily the star and my wife said she would order it again in a heart beat. The salmon was cooked nicely and the asparagus was soft but still had a bite to it. The sweet potato fries were standard and came with a tasty dip.

The grilled cheese burger was not my favorite and I would not order again. The bread is to soft and it all just falls apart. The salad was tasty though and I we both thought the Mac and cheese was a little grainy but ok.

All and all we would return and try other menu items.
