When I was using TNEXT internet service, things for the most part went well. Technical support was a little slow at times, but overall it was fine. They stayed consistent with their monthly fee for the entire time I was with them, which was a key factor for me. (The bigger companies would get me to agree on a contract, only to jack the fee shortly after I signed it.) I had some changes in my life and the time came to shut down my TNEXT account. This is when they suddenly got weird.

I spoke on the phone with someone and they walked me through how to shut the account down. I had been paying for internet service a month in advance. The customer service agent checked with her supervisor and assured me that I would be refunded for half of the month I already paid for as soon as TNEXT has the modem back they gave me. No problem. The agent sent me a shipping label, I packed up the modem and sent it back. I have spoken with TNEXT since and they confirmed they received my modem around the middle of March. (I don't remember the exact date.) It's almost the end of June now and I still don't have my refund cheque.

I have called several times to ask where my cheque is. For their part, the agents who have answered the phone have been nice, but their hands are tied. They're not in a position where they can send me a cheque. All they can do is offer to "escalate my call". That's the term they all use. My call has been escalated more times than I could tell you now. I don't know where it's been escalated to, but "escalating my call" doesn't appear to do anything. I still don't have a cheque.

I have also left my contact information a few different times and asked the agents to ask whoever oversees the billing department to call me so I can explain all of this. The agents said they would definitely forward my information, but I still haven't received a call from anyone. This whole operation is starting to look very amateurish.

Unfortunately, after a pretty decent experience with an active TNEXT account, the opposite is proving true once my account is cancelled. As long as I keep feeding them money, TNEXT is happy to address my concerns. Once they find out the account is shutting down, they are suddenly nowhere to be found.

If I ever hear back from them or they send me my cheque, I'll come back and update this. At this point though, it's not looking too optimistic.
