I purchased 6-day old chicks last May. I really loved being able to pick them up locally instead of having them shipped. They have all started laying. They are all friendly and are all healthy! Thank you for keeping these heritage breeds going! Also, the egg colours are exactly what I wanted!

I ordered beef to be delivered only to be told Emily's husband 'changed him mind' on delivering to downtown Vancouver. I was then asked to drive for an hour to collect the product so I politely asked for a refund instead. I am not a Canadian and made an international transfer to her and she flat out refused to provide me with a bank transfer back only mailing me a cheque which I cannot cash because I am not Canadian. I emailed multiple times asking if she could take out the international wiring fees and send me my refund and Emily is (still) ignoring me. This not a professional business and they have stolen my money.

Very unpleasant to deal with. Unorganized. Rude. Attempted pick up 3 times, drove out and she had forgotten my order everytime. Thankfully the 3rd time Emily wasn't there and one of the workers went and grabbed me the chicks I had ordered, paid for and been confirmed months earlier.
She will make every excuse possible bit won't take responsibility for his mistakes. Wouldn't cancel my order after I had to drive 5 hours to have her refuse me my order. She blamed me that I she didn't confirm my order and after I sent her the email proof she had she blamed her husband. If you can't fulfill orders don't take peoples money. They have way too many birds to handle care of and she openly complains and blames the work load for her failure.

I’ve ordered from Emily for years now. She has always provided above and beyond communication about orders and how to best care for the birds. Her birds have been healthy and hardy and do well on pasture which is important on our farm. She is my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for the birds she carries and continues to be our first choice as well.

HORRIBLE SERVICE: I dealt with Emily. I called in the Spring. She told me my order was for July and to expect a bill. I never received a bill via email so I called. She said my order wasn’t processed though she found the notes she had taken. She said I could have 10 chick she had extra. Then she called and said she sold them to someone else whose order was lost. Then she said come on a different day and get a rooster. On that day she called me to see if I’m coming. I didn’t show up because I had scratched out and rewrote the appointment too many times to read it! I was confused. I said I could come straight away. She told me this was not how business is done. Blamed me for not prepaying (I never got the bill). She said she has a rooster waiting for me all day, but when we made the appointment she told me to come at 8:30 pm and we would grab a rooster right off the roost (that was the reason to come late). She also said she would have 30 eggs in the incubator waiting for me to make up for losing my order twice. I was suppose to get my own incubator and pick them up to finish them off. I did that at considerable cost, but she was so frazzled about the rooster she said she’s too busy and has to go. She hung up on me as I inquired about my eggs... So in summary. This company will give you HORRIBLE service and blame it all on you.

Emily Robertson is simply an excellent person to do business with. I have seen negative reviews here and from my experience with True North I am convinced there is more to each story. I experienced courtesy and compassion from True North. The chicks were amazing and grew out beautifully. In the past I have purchased both Mistrial Gris and Ameraucana. Emily has a wealth of knowledge to share. I highly recommend True North Hatchery. Beautiful blue layers. Do not be negatively influenced by any poor reviews you see here.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.
The first year we ordered premium blue egg laying chickens at point of lay. First they messed up on the pick up day so I had driven 6 hours round trip to be told I'd have to come back another time. Then when we finally got the birds in the first week that we had them isolated (in a large coop) they were pecking each other's tail feathers off. They were terrified of people and after being let out to free range wouldn't go back into the coop to sleep. They would sleep up in the trees, if we went near them they would squack as if being attacked! All summer we tried all sorts of ways to calm them down. Come winter since they still wouldnt sleep indoors and we have a very cold climate we had to destroy them as we couldn't move them to their winter coop/greenhouse area. We paid over $20 each for these traumatized birds, we later found out their "start-up" barn has over a 1000 birds in it!! For some reason I figured maybe ordering just hatched chicks would be better, we ordered 30 ducklings by mail. 4 did not make the trip and 1 died 3 days in. Since I did not email them within 2 days (4) they will not refund and did not send any extras as is often the case. Do not deal with this company unless you can pick up day old chicks yourself.

I asked about buying chick's of smaller chickens so I can pair up the ones I get with my other small chickens. Right now I have 1 rooster that much to big for me to trust him with our small hens (hes like 4 times their size) and I was told to just mix my small hens with him anyway because "he should know how to treat them" all I wanted was their pricing on chick's. I decided to look elsewhere instead of continuing to try and convince them.
